HOW TO HANDLE EXAM PRESSURE AND BE SUCCESSFUL.

HOW TO HANDLE EXAM PRESSURE AND BE SUCCESSFUL.

Mr. Pawan Gupta, Motivational speaker and Success coach.

All the students are under huge pressure during their exams. This is because their only aim is to score highly in their exams.  Thus, this results to huge exam stress and tremendous pressure and competition in their student life.

As a result many young kids complain of physical and mental problems at the time of preparation for the exam. This is a very common problem seen in the students of all levels of education around the globe.
Such issues are severe and can yield serious results in their lives, if not dealt properly. Students always need the support of family and their loved ones to overcome these problems.

The main reason behind exam stress results from pressure and competition from the peer group, family and society. Although, it is common among students, it becomes a problem when students lack time to prepare and focus, similar to the students who become overconfident, resulting in poor academic performance.
Stress is a state of physical, mental or emotional factors that may lead to physical or mental illness resulting from demanding circumstances.

A state of perpetual tension both physical and mental which happens throughout the duration of the exam can cause negative impacts on academics as well as mental health.

There is a fear among students of disappointing their parents with poor academic results. This fear motivates the student to do well in exam but also creates a stress because of the thought of not achieving top marks.

The value of marks can be understood by the person who flunked Class 12 once, dropped  out of MBA and is a Self-Made millionaire now. Who would have thought that the youngster who was ridiculed based on his mark sheet is not only a successful entrepreneur and investor but also helps  to drive the economic growth of a whole other continent!

Inadequate exam preparation is the main cause of exam related stress, because the students feels that there isn’t sufficient time to cover the syllabus thus, gets involved in completing it. This results in lack of sleep because of tensions and worries of studying late in night. Also, last moment study lowers the chances of the facts being remembered which increases anxiety and stress during exam time.

A lack of sleep and not a proper breakfast or vitamin supplement also increases stress thus lowering the chances of performing well in exams.
